Nearly 130 guests attended the 9th XING Capital Markets Colloquium in Frankfurt Messeturm on June 16, 2016. This event focused upon demographic and health sector growth of interest to global investors. The two presentations of the evening were held by Dr. Martin Moryson (Chief economist of Sal. Oppenheim) and Prof. Dr. Gregor Dorfleitner (Finance Professor at Regensburg University).
Dr. Martin Moryson presented his view on demographic changes especially from the perspective of a global investor. While western countries mostly have exceeded their demographic zenith, Asia is growing fast making it very attractive for long-term investors.
Prof. Dr. Gregor Dorfleitner presented his study of the health care industry and showed how it produced excess returns of more than 4% per year for global investors in the period from 2000 to 2016. This outperformance was mainly driven by Asia where both a growing population and a bigger middle class with rising interest in medical care drove investment returns.
